Response from The Right Honourable Anthony Biddulph, The 5th Baron Biddulph on the passing of his mother Lady Mary, Dowager Baroness Biddulph.
Born Hon Mary Helena on 23rd October 1938 to Ivor and Helena Maitland, Viscount and Viscountess Maitland, heir to the 15th Earl of Lauderdale, killed in action in World War II.
On 28th October 1953 she was granted the rank and precedence of an Earl’s daughter due to the fact if he had survived Viscount Maitland would have been The 16th Earl.
On 9th April 1958 she married The Hon Robert Biddulph, heir of the 3rd Baron Biddulph.
They had three children;
- Anthony Nicholas Colin born 8th April 1959
- Hon. Fiona Mary born 18th August 1961
- Hon. William Ian Robert born 27th March 1963
She sadly passed away on 16th September 2023.
