Royal response from Her Royal Highness Princess Lilian of Sweden, Duchess of Halland on the passing of her husband His Royal Highness Prince Bertil of Sweden, Duke of Halland.
Born Bertil Gustaf Oskar Carl Eugén on 28th February 1912 in Stockholm Palace, Sweden, to Their Royal Highnesses Gustaf Adolph and Margareta, The Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Sweden, Duke and Duchess of Scania.
He married Lilian Davies on 7th December 1973. The couple had met in 1943 but due to fact that marrying a commoner would have meant losing his rights to succesion and place in the Swedish Royal Family and the likelihood of been regent for his nephew the future Carl Gustaf XVI, this did not happen. His Majesty Carl Gustaf XVI gave permission for the Prince to marry thus allowing him to keep his titles and place in the line of succession and allowing upon marriage for Lilian to become a Princess of Sweden.
He sadly passed awaty on 5th Janiary 1997 at The Villa Solbacken in Stockholm.
The reply is in the form of a card which on the front The Crown of Sweden and inside is a message in English and the printed signature of Her Royal Highness and opposite is a picture of His Royal Highness.
