Royal response from Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain on the occasion of their 63rd Wedding Anniversary.
The engagement of then Their Royal Highness Juan Carlos, Prince de Asturias and Princess Sophia of Greece and Denmark was announced on 13th September 1961.
The couple married on 14th May 1962 in three ceremonies: one in the Roman Catholic Church at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Dionysius the Areopagite; in the Greek Orthodox Church the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens; and a third civil ceremony that was held upon their return to the Royal Palace now the Presidential Mansion in Athens.
