Born Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise on 15th August 1950 at Clarence House to then Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh later Her Majesty Elizabeth II, Queen of The United Kingdom and His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. She was their second child and only daughter. Upon her mother’s succession she became 2nd in line, as of 4th May 2020 she is 14th in line. Since 13 June 1987 she has been styled Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.

She married firstly Lieutenant Mark Phillips later a Captain, on 14th November 1973 at Westminster Abbey, London. The couple have two children, Peter born 5 November 1977 and Zara born 15th May 1981. The couple later separated and divorced on 23rd April 1992.

On at 12 December 1992 at Crathie Kirk, near Balmoral Castle, she married Commander Timothy Laurence now Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.

It is a letter from Her Royal Highness’s Secretary Isabella Ward, I particular love this letter as it mentions the date that was on my letter, where I sent it from and that i mentioned the birth of her granddaughter. It is hand signed by Mrs. Ward which is a lovely touch and my name is hand written.
