Alison, The Countess of Rosse on the 400 anniversary of Birr Castle

Response from The Right Honourable The Countess of Rosse in reply to a letter I wrote to mark 400 years of The parsons Family living at Birr Castle.

Brenden and Alison, The 7th Earl and Countess of Rosse live at Birr Castle, Co. Offaly for the pass 40 years.

The Earldom of Rosse created for Laurence Parsons, The 1st Viscount Oxmantown in The Peerage of Ireland on 3rd February 1806 by George III. The subsidiary title is Baron Oxmantown in County Wexford in The Peerage of Ireland in 1792 by George III.

In 1620 Sir Laurence Parsons was granted Birr Castle and around 1000 acres of Land. Sir Parsons build a new Castle on the site. The Castle and grounds have been in the Parsons Family since then.

The reply is in the form of a card which on the front has a watercolour picture of Birr Castle by Helga Kaffka and inside is a message from The Countess.
