He is survived by his wife Her Serene Highness Princess Angelica zu Bentheim und Steinfurt and his children Their Serene Highnesses Carl Ferdinand, The Hereditary Prince zu Bentheim und Steinfurt, Princess Johanna Charlotte, Prince Christoph Peter and Princess Aleida Elisabeth zu Bentheim und Steinfurt.
