Passing of Valerie Pakenham, The Countess of Longford

Response from The Right Honourable Thomas Pekenham, The 8th Earl of Longford on the passing of his wife Valerie. Pakenham, The Countess of Longford.

Born Valerie Susan on 13th November 1939 to Major Ronald and Honourable Mary McNair Scott.

She married Thomas Pakenham, Lord Silchester on 23rd July 1963. They have 4 children; Edward, Lord Silchester, Lady Anna Maria, Lady Eliza and The Honourable Frederick.

Lady longford sadly passed away on 22nd January 2023.

The Earl and Countess do not use their titles.

The Earldom of Longford created for Elizabeth Pakenham on 20th June 1785 in The Peerage of Ireland by George III. The subsidiary titles of the Earldom are; Baron Silchester in the County of Southampton created in The Peerage of The United Kingdom in 1821 by George IV, Baron Longford in The County Longford created in The Peerage of Ireland in 1756 by George III and Baron Pakenham of Cowley in City of Oxford created in The Peerage of The United Kingdom by George VI.

The Family Seat is Tullynally Castle.
