Response from The Right Honourable Edward Cadogan, The 9th Earl Cadogan on the passing of his father The Right Honourable Charles Cadogan, The 8th Cadogan, 8th Viscount Chelsea, 10th Baron Cadogan and 6th Baron Oakley, KBE, DL.
Born Charles Gerald John on 24th March 1937 to William and Primrose Cadogan, The 7th Earl and Countess of Cadogan.
He succeed his father as The 8th Earl on 4th July 1997.
On 6th June 1963 he married Lady Philippa Wallop daughter of Gerald and Bridget Wallop, The 9th Earl and Countess of Portsmouth.
They had three children;
Lady Anna-Karona born 4th February 1964
Edward Charles born 10th May 1966
Hon. William John born 9th November 1973
He sadly passed away 11th June 2023.
The Earldom Cadogan created in the Peerage of Great Britain in 1800 by George III. The subsidiary titles are Viscount Chelsea, in the County of Middlesex created in The Peerage of Great Britain in 1800 by George III, The Baron Cadogan of Oakley in the County of Buckingham created in The Peerage of Great Britain in 1718 by George I and Baron Oakley of Caversham in the County of Oxford created in The Peerage of The United Kingdom in 1831 by William IV.
The reply is int he form of a card which on the front has The Earldom Cypher, two C interlocked under an Earl’s coronet over a picture of The 8th Earl with his name and title underneath and his birth and death dates. Inside is a younger picture of The Earl and opposite is a message thanking me for my kind wishes and is hand signed by The 9th Earl. On the reverse is a further two pictures of The Earl.
