Born Willem-Alexander Claus George Ferdinand on 27th April 1967 at the Utrecht University Hospital in Utrecht, Netherlands to Their Royal Highnesses Princess Beatrix and Prince Claus of the Netherlands

He was baptised on 2th September 1967 in Saint Jacob’s Church in The Hague. His godparents are His Royal Highness Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld, Gösta Freiin von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen, Ferdinand von Bismarck, Jelle Zijlstra, Jonkvrouw Renée Röell, and Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

Willem-Alexander became The King of the Netherlands on 30th April 2013 upon the abdication of His Mother Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.

1983 – 1985; He attended the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales, the UK, from which he received his International Baccalaureate.

1987 – 1993; He studied History at Leiden University and received his MA degree.

His engagement to Máxima Zorreguieta Cerruti was announced on 30th March 2001.

Wedding

The couple married on 2nd February 2002 in a civil ceremony at the Beurs van Berlage by The Mayor of Amsterdam, Job Cohen and a religious ceremony by The Reverend Carel ter Linden, Minister Emeritus of the Kloosterkerk, The Hague at the Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam. They have three children.

Princess Alexia of the Netherlands born (Alexia Juliana Marcela Laurentien) on 26th June 2005 at HMC Bronovo in The Hague.

Princess Ariane of the Netherlands born (Ariane Wilhelmina Máxima Inés) on 10th April 2007 at HMC Bronovo in The Hague.
