Passing of Nicholas Cunliffe-Lister, The 3rd Earl of Swinton

Response from The Right Honourable Mark Cunliffe-Lister on the passing of his father The Right Honourable Nicholas Cunliffe-Lister, The 3rd Earl of Swinton.

Born Nicholas John on 4th September 1939 to Major Honourable John and Honourable Anne Cunliffe-Lister. Grandson of The 1st Earl, he succeeded his brother, David, The 2nd Earl as The 3rd Earl on 26th March 2006 their father having been killed in action in 1943.

He married The Honourable Elizabeth Whitelaw on 19th February 1966 whom he had three children with; Lady Lorna, Mark, The 4th Earl and Honourable Simon Cunliffe-Lister. They were divorced and he later married Pamala Wood in 1996.

The Earldom of Swinton created Philip Cunliffe-Lister, The Viscount Swinton on 5th May 1955 in The Peerage of The United Kingdom by Elizabeth II, the subsidiary titles held by The Earl are Viscount Swinton of Masham in the County of York in The Peerage of The United Kingdom in 1935 by George V and Baron Masham of Ellington in The County of York in The Peerage of The United Kingdom in 1955 By Elizabeth II.

The Family Seat was Swinton Park.

The reply is in the form of a card which on the front has a picture of The 3rd Earl and on the reverse is a message from The 4th Earl.
