He attended primary school at Collège Saint-Michel, Brussels a French speaking school.

He attended secondary school Dutch-speaking Zevenkerken abbey school, near Bruges, as a boarder.

He finished his secondary school studies at the Pius X College in Antwerp

He then trained at the Royal Cadets’ College in Laken, followed by academic training at the Royal Military College.

Engagement

His engagement to Claire Combs was announced on 19th December 2002.

Wedding

The couple married on 12th April 2003 in a civil ceremony in French, Dutch and German languages by Brussels Mayor Freddy Thielemans at the Brussels Town Hall and a religious ceremony by Godfried Danneels The Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels at the Cathedral of Saint Michel and Saint Gudule in Brussels. They have three children.
